Welcome to "Message on a Ribbon"

zee.productions' unique art project for White Ribbon

We are very proud to present to you Hope, triumphant.

This limited edition photograph by Robert McFarlane is the culmination of the Message on a Ribbon art project. Conceived, realised, and funded by Karen and Dirk Zadra, zee.productions, to help raise awareness of the White Ribbon Campaign. We aspire to ‘rebirth’ these ribbons in a future art project.

Conceptual framework.

The overt masculinity of the massive granite pillars of Parliament House are juxtaposed with the Hills Hoist, adorned with over 600 white satin ribbons with messages from the people (to tie in with White Ribbon), and the femininity of two models draped in Grecian-style garments holding a tragedy and comedy mask (to link the imagery back to the theatre production).

Symbolism.

Hope triumphing over Despair, with the Messenger (The Hoist) bearing the messages of non-violence from the people to Justice and Democracy as represented by Parliament House, the birthplace of all legislation.
